Vine to Dine: Bordeaux and the Irish Connection

Start listening

In the latest episode of Vine to Dine, we’re diving into a story rich with history, culture, and tradition: the fascinating connection between Bordeaux and Ireland. Irish families who fled Ireland in the 17th and 18th centuries made their mark on Bordeaux, helping to shape its wine industry into the global icon it is today.

Peter tells us about his experiences and what he learned about in Bordeaux. Did you know that many Bordeaux vineyards use rose bushes to protect their vines? Planted at the end of vine rows, these beautiful flowers act as an early warning system for diseases like powdery mildew and other threats. Since roses are more susceptible to certain conditions than vines, they give winemakers a chance to act quickly and protect their crops, ensuring a perfect harvest.

Join Peter, as he shares his own experience in Bordeaux with this incredible story, featuring his insights and what he learned on his trips, and historical connections. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or simply curious about how history, culture, and wine intertwine, this episode will leave you inspired.
